Linkert Carburetor Horror story part 2

So.. More about that Linkert.
Even though it seems hopeless, I want to give it a try, maybe there is some future for it after all!

I've put the carburetor in some diesel. Only after 1 day I already saw some difference.
I disassembled it and put it back into the diesel, I'm going to leave it like that for a few days.

DieCo's Panhead Day two

Did some work on the panhead today with a buddy of mine.
I started with taking the oiltank out, test-fitting some handlebars. Then we took off the primary, I'm going to change it into a 1-1/2" beltdrive. I ordered a new ignition (with the automatic advance) so I took out the old one (witch you have to adjust manually). In order to do so, I had to take off the front cylinder. well, that was a nice surprise for me! turns out that there are new Wiseco pistons fitted into new cylinders (std size).

DieCo's Panhead Day one

a few days ago I teased you a bit with those photo's, but now I can officially say that I'm the owner of a 1950 Hydra Glide.
I picked it up earlier this evening and couldn't resist to start tearing it apart.

and 4 hours later:

This way it all looks optimistic, but this is just a 'loose' mock up to see what it will become.
There still is a lot to do! the guy I bought it from had it for about 10 years, when he bought it it was in running condition and completely '70 style. He then started to bring it back to (more or less) it's original looks, but that stopped 7 years ago. Since then the bike was standing in a shack underneath a plastic cover.

When I kick it, it feels like there's good compression so.. not sure if I would open up the engine and do a good inspection, or just try to get it running... We'll see..

The frame needs some work to I think, it looks okay in most places but in other... not so much!

Anyway, I'm looking forward to getting this beauty on the road!

Harton

a little while ago, a guy showed up at the shop and asked if we could take a look at his bike. The electrics urgently needed to be renewed and the bike had to be cleaned up a bit.
It turned out that it was a Harton. it's a Sportster engine in a Norton frame. Super lightweight, used on the tracks. Startbutton? egnition switch? no! for that they used an industrial battery key.
a lot of bolts are secured with steel wire, aluminum gas-and oiltank, fiberglas frontfender,...
Here you see the cleened up version:

the bike

I haven't been here in a while, so I thought I'd upload another pic of... my bike ;-)

I hope to be back soon!
